Turkish Airlines (THY), the world’s most widely connected airline, is set to operate three weekly flights to Melbourne, Australia, starting from March 1.
According to a statement from THY, which has reached 129 countries and 345 destinations on all five continents, is preparing to connect its passengers with the airline’s sixth continent.
THY, considering the expansion of its flight network as a crucial element of its growth strategy, reinforces its performance by adding Australia, a destination it has prioritized and worked on for some time.
Expressing his satisfaction at the prospect of inaugurating flights to Melbourne, THY Board Chairman and Executive Committee Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated, “We possess a significant global asset that sets us apart from our competitors. We are the airline that flies to the most countries in the world. Preserving this valuable mission is a powerful motivation for us to work even harder, more diligently, and more enthusiastically. With this motivation, we are excited to add Melbourne as our 346th destination and the 6th continent to our flight network. Australia, with its natural beauty and hospitable people, becomes the 130th country and the 6th continent under our wings.”
Emphasizing the significance of the flight for both countries, Bolat stated, “As Turkish Airlines, proud to have connected people, cultures, and continents for over 90 years, we are delighted to bring Australians together with our award-winning service quality and unique flight network.”
Bolat further added, “In the coming years, we plan to strengthen our presence in this beautiful country by increasing both the frequency of our flights and the number of destinations. Additionally, as we bring the Turkish and Australian peoples closer and strengthen the bonds between our countries, we aim for increased bilateral tourism, trade, and business opportunities.”
Flights to be arranged via Singapore
As of March 1, THY will operate three weekly flights to Melbourne, its 346th destination in 130 countries.
By flying thousands of visitors annually on the Istanbul-Melbourne route, the company aims to contribute to the tourism and trade volumes of both countries.
THY will become the only European airline currently flying to Melbourne Airport with flights arranged via Singapore.
With special promotional prices starting at $1,199 from Istanbul to Melbourne and AUD 1,499 from Melbourne to Istanbul for travel between March 1 and May 15, passengers can benefit from the opening offers provided that ticketing is completed between January 19 and April 15.
Supported by the Victoria State and Melbourne Airport, THY’s new route will connect Türkiye to one of Victoria’s largest trade centers, linking Türkiye with Australia’s largest Turkish community and fastest-growing state.
Turkish Airlines’ new flights will enhance Melbourne’s access to European, Middle Eastern, Balkan, and African markets via Istanbul, contributing to the tourism, international education, business, and trade potential.
In the coming years, THY aims to establish direct flights to Melbourne and other potential cities in the country with the capacity of new aircraft acquisitions, allowing for a non-stop Istanbul-Melbourne route.
