The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment is responding to Booking.com’s warnings to travelers visiting Northern Cyprus, which include a “threat to human rights” and alerts regarding entries from Ercan Airport.
The warnings issued by the Netherlands-based online travel agency Booking.com against the tourism in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) could have negative implications for both the TRNC and travelers.
Upon noticing the warnings, the relevant ministry is preparing to take necessary steps.
According to information obtained from reliable sources by Kibris Postasi, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment is taking action to avoid such problems next year.
The Ministry ofTourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment will initiate efforts to counter such baseless warnings and implement measures regarding the alerts.
What happened?
Booking.com issued warnings regarding threats to human rights, stating that the northern part of Cyprus declared itself the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” in 1983, and did not recognize the sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus over this region. Therefore, entries from Ercan Airport were not considered “legal.”
