Opinion by: Michael Egorov, founder of Curve Finance The crypto world shifts its focus every few months, with headlines buzzing about AI, integrations, memecoins and grand Web3 visions. While the spotlight moves from trend to trend, a quieter, deeper transformation is taking place beneath the surface: the gradual birth of a new financial system built on stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi) and code-driven contracts. This system can be nominally called “Money2” — and it’s not a theory or a future vision. It’s already here. FDJ’s Kindred saw revenue drop 12% in H1 compared to 2024, a record period for the company thanks to Euro 2024. In its H1 earnings release on Wednesday, FDJ United flagged an 11.5% year-on-year dip in revenue for its online betting and gaming business, operated by Kindred. The White House released its long-awaited report on crypto on Wednesday, detailing a number of policy recommendations that omitted a Bitcoin (BTC) reserve. The report does mention the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, insofar as it was established back in March, but makes no mention of further development. Bitcoin maximalists have stated that the Bitcoin reserve order should allow the government to actively purchase the asset in a strategy more akin to El Salvador. While the crypto industry has largely welcomed the…

Australia has flourished as an export powerhouse for decades. Much of this prosperity has been driven by the nation’s natural endowment with two important raw products for producing steel the traditional way: iron ore and metallurgical coal. Worth more than A$100 billion in 2024, Australia’s iron ore shipments to China make up about 55% of everything we export there. But a transformation has been taking place in China’s steel industry, which is under intense pressure to decarbonize. Earlier this year, Beijing formally expanded its national emissions trading scheme to cover steel production. And just this month, it issued another decree…
TOKYO – As new South Korean President Lee Jae Myung sets out to revamp Asia’s fourth-biggest economy, he can cross direct US tariff risks off the list of possible spoilers. Korea’s tariff deal with the US removes a gigantic element of uncertainty as Lee gets to work raising Korea’s economic game. Though the 15% tax on US-bound goods will hurt, getting the uncertainty factor out of the way will enable Korea Inc to move forward. “It is a case of the worst avoided, with a pinch of relief removing Korea-specific tariff risks,” says Kathleen Oh, chief Korea economist at Morgan…
